YOUTH COUNSELOR

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Supervises daily activities of students and insures that basic needs are met; participates with students in ongoing program activities; instructs students in safety practices.  Assist students in learning skills necessary for completion of chores, including chopping wood, cleaning living and program areas, washing dishes and other tasks.  Implements students Individual Program Plans; provides individual counseling to assist students in working within peer group and in handling individual problems. Sets and enforces limits for students behavior; provides crisis intervention and contains out-of-control behavior.  Assists in first lights, last lights, raps (group process) and emotional growth workshops. Communicates information regarding students’ progress and needs for professional services. Completes students progress reports; facilitates educational activities.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in a Psychology or related field; or equivalent combination of experience and training. Minimum of one years experience working in residential setting with at-risk adolescents. Certification in Basic or Advanced First Aid /CPR and Crisis Prevention beneficial.

SALARY RANGE:  $10.02  -  $13.02 per hour based on years of experience.  Full benefits package available following 30 days employment.
