About the Academy

5 core values

Safety - Community - Responsibility - Honesty - Respect

These core values are the foundation from which our community is governed. One of Northwest Academy's objectives is to teach that adhering to these values, helps students develop and apply their own inner self-controls which reasonably coincide with established social standards of behavior and bring greater peace of mind than a defiant lifestyle.

Occasionally students may act in ways which do not reflect these core values. Disruptive behaviors take something away from our community rather than contribute to the sense of safety, honesty, responsibility, and respect. We teach that when one has taken away from the community, it is then necessary to give something back, which is often reflected through a tangible contribution such as a work assignment. Situations where disciplinary action becomes necessary can be a valuable opportunity for learning and growth and we structure disciplinary action accordingly.
