Our Students
Northwest Academy students are 17-years old and at risk of not graduating high school because of emotional and behavioral challenges. Our students are bright, but recently have become unmotivated, have given up on their healthy passions such as sports, arts, and music, and are hindered by the conviction that they simply "do not care" that their choices are allowing life to pass them by. Our students typically have struggled with one or more of the following challenges:
- Low self-esteem
- Family conflicts
- Depression
- School truancy
- Academic under-achievement or school failure
- Learning difficulties
- Attentional issues
- Inadequate relationship skills
- Problematic peer affiliations
- Sense of entitlement
- Impulse control
- Anger management
- Oppositional defiance
- Drug and/or alcohol use
